Google has confirmed today that they have officially purchased the ad management firm, Admeld for an undisclosed amount. However, several news outlets have reported that the acquisition cost Google $400 million. This new move by Google is an attempt to amp up their already dominant Ad solutions to provide service to larger publishers.
Admeld is responsible for providing technology and services that assist larger publishers and PR firms to organize their inventory of content and plug it into various ad networks and demand-side platforms to help publishers gain the most exposure. With relationships with The Weather Channel, The New York Times and IDG TechNetwork, Google has now extended their reach to news sources with wider viewing audiences.
This new purchase has helped Google to become more aggressive in their online ad efforts and created another reason for the masses to choose them for ad placement and distribution. Many analysts now wonder how this new venture will work for Google and how they will now work with competitors in the online ad world.
